I've moved the list of emails I inherited from Larry onto Google Groups. I've set it up so that it's now a true discussion list- if you post to the list or reply to an email from it, your message will be distributed to all the other list subscribers. This can be helpful for setting up swaps or letting people know about events. You'll also be able to change your subscription settings to select either all individual emails, digest, abridged, or no email. In all cases you'll be able to read the posts at the group's archive just like using a Bulletin Board System (BBS) so long as you don't unsubscribe.
Another advantage of being at Google Groups is that the list has, as I alluded to above, a searchable archive of the posts made. The archive is only visible to members of the list so there is no need to worry about your email being harvested by spammers
You'll either have to set up a Google account or sign into an existing Google Account (No charge, they just want to know your email and name and have you select a password)
During your sign-up, you may encounter my screening question asking for your name and employee number. This question is to prevent spammers and scammers from signing up for our list.
Anyway, I hope you all join up.
